Belaku

Belaku was started in May 2000 with the intention of providing a home
for orphans and and destitute children and helping them become valuable
citizens. It currently houses about 20 children ranging from 6 - 22
years. It aims at providing a comfortable and secure life for children
having no parents or children with single parent of poor socio-economic
backgrounds. It is run under the observation and guidance of 13
like-minded and dedicated trustees and wholly on donations and does not
have any government aid.
Belaku considers it their responsibility to provide and house the children until they have completed studies and are settled into a feasible job which can provide for them comfortably. The children are sent to schools and colleges and some are doing B.Com, some P.U and some more in school. They are provided professional counselling if necessary. They arrange and participate in cultural programs regularly and also take the children on excursion every year. From the first batch, 2 girls have completed their D.Ed and have secured teaching jobs. One girl has moved out of Belaku and another is still in a temporary job currently. Belaku ensures that the resident is in a secure and well-providing job before they move out. They have and also need dedicated and service-oriented people to volunteer.

When questioned whether they have thought about marrying off the girls,
they stated that they have not encountered such a situation so far,
since the very first batch of girls are just 22 years old. However, if
anybody comes forward to marry, Belaku would encourage the same.
